Surprisingly contemporary in design, this unique spiral pendant is a reproduction of original jewelry that dates back to the time of China’s T’ang emperors! The T’ang Dynasty, one of China’s most magnificent periods, was a time of enlightenment and prosperity which lasted from 618 to 907 A.D. The Chinese empire was extended all the way to the Caspian Sea. Literature, fine arts, and learning were advanced and nourished. Buddhism, Taoism, and Christianity flourished under imperial patronage.
The original jewelry this pendant is based on is currently housed at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Made from pewter with a gold-colored finish, the pendant measures 1 inch long and 0.875 inches wide. Necklace chain is 17.5 inches long.
