Where Our Pieces Come From
Our products originate all over the world, everywhere from Ecuador to Nepal. We strive to form relationships with vendors that uphold standards of ethical work practices and ensure the highest quality. We are continually on the lookout for new and interesting designs that can tell a story about a particular area of the globe or a certain period in time.
Learning to Love Handmade
Honing a love for handicraft means embracing the one-of-a-kind details that can result from its meticulous processes. Many of our products are crafted by artisans who use traditional methods and materials. As a result, you might notice that certain pieces display unique markings, variations in color, or an aged finish. Such characteristics are indications of the maker’s personal touch and may be cherished as such. Buying handmade means that no two pieces are identical, that beauty and imperfections go hand in hand. Of course, if you are truly unhappy with a piece, you are free to exchange or return it within a 30 day window, no questions asked!
A Melting Pot of Influences
Throughout the ages, different art forms and techniques have traveled across borders and been adopted by whole communities, who in turn make these art forms their own. While we cherish items that authentically represent the aesthetic traditions of a specific region, many of our pieces are cross-cultural in nature. A Celtic symbol may be fashioned from Indonesian silver. A beaded Indian bracelet may have a distinctly Southwestern feel. We feel that these items are reflective of a broader history of borrow and exchange. We embrace the distinct looks that result from a combination of different cultural influences.
Is Everything Handmade?
While we aim to provide artisanal and handmade whenever possible, you may notice a small selection of our items are created with the help of modern machinery in a manufacturing facility. Due to shifting global relations and their impact on the market, it is can be difficult to source certain items from their exact country and culture of origin. Partnering with companies who use manufacturing processes enables us to offer you modern replicas of original pieces that would otherwise not be available. By doing this, we are able to uphold our commitment to providing you with a variety of different options in a wide range of price points.
