The passionate love of Francesca da Rimini and Paolo Malatesta was a theme which Rodin used to inspire The Kiss. Although it was originally intended to be part of the Gates of Hell, Rodin did not feel that it fit and removed the figures to make them an individual statue. Rodin considered this work overly traditional, but it remains as one of his most famous works.
Though the 1882 original is displayed at the Musée Rodin in Paris, this timeless image of love can be part of your home! Small-scale, this piece is sized to fit on a desk, shelf, or nightstand. Statue measures 4.5 inches high, 2.5 inches wide, and 3 inches deep. Cast stone with bronze-colored finish. Indoor use only.
This statue replicates the aesthetics of ancient artifacts and one-of-a-kind museum pieces. Cracks, discoloration, and other surface details are in keeping with the aged look of the piece.
