Kanji is a type of Japanese writing that uses characters derived from Chinese. This system of writing is beautiful and very old: kanji is said to have come to Japan through Korea in the 5th Century! This colorful garland’s kanji characters were made from reclaimed metal in the USA and express good wishes for all! The characters translate to, “Love”, “Harmony”, “Strength”, “Health”, “Wisdom”, “Prosperity” and “Faith.”
In addition to the characters, there are 6 handmade bells sourced form cooperatives in India. They add just a touch of music, a delightful tinkling that falls softly on the ears. Hang in a doorway and let all who pass through take a moment to gently ring their bells. Characters are about 2 inches wide and 2.5 inches long. Bells are about 1 inch in diameter. Garland is 5 feet total.
