The goddess, Bastet, was originally depicted as a lioness. Over time, however, Bastet was eventually represented in the form of a cat. Because cats were considered good mothers, Bastet herself was seen as a maternal figure and was sometimes depicted with a litter of kittens. This multicolored statue shows Bastet with a small litter of golden kittens. Statue measures 8.5 inches high, 2.75 inches wide, and 3.5 inches deep. It is inspired by an original bronze statue on display at the British Museum.
