Cultural Description / Significance
Ghana, previously known as the Gold Coast, has been a supplier of timber (mostly Mahogany) to Europe as far back as 1833. The practice continued until 1945, but after the introduction of pit-sawing in Ghana and the country began exporting manufactured lumber.
