A high-end wall decor, this set of three shadow boxes from our Asian home decor collection depicts three different kinds of Snuff boxes. Measuring 9 inches square, these shadow boxes are 2 inches deep to give a great gallery-like appeal to your wall decor. Snuff boxes are made of silver coated brass, enclosed in a glass frame with a Chinese calligraphy fabric backing. Handmade in Tang County, Hebei province.
Cultural Description / Significance
Snuff boxes have been produced in China for centuries for the nobles. They were used as small medicine bottles especially in Qing dynasty which started in 1644 and ended in 1911. They were also used for holding powdered tobacco, with some herbs & spices, which was inhaled through the nose.
