Mother of pearl inlaid decorative boxes and Egyptian furniture, combines the art of woodworking with the fine, intricate detail work of inlay. During the Ottoman period, grand pieces of inlaid furniture were made for the palaces. In the 18th and 19th century wood and inlaid sandals were made for the ladies of the harem to use in the bathhouses.
