Wrought Iron frame sets the foundation for the shade made of Alibangbang leaves. The artist cuts each leaf to ensure that no leaf overlaps. Once the leaves are stained, it is adhered to a heat resistant backing; similar to the backing found on any standard lamp. A 40-watts bulb is recommended.

Cultural Description / Significance
The Alibangbang tree is stocky and grows to a height of 24 to 30 feet. The leaves have a butterfly shape to them, hence the common name of the tree in the native Philippine language of Illangan is Alibangbang, or "butterfly." The Alibangbang leaf is used as a natural medicine as well as food flavoring throughout the South Pacific.
