Cultural Description / Significance
Kisii stone is only available in the Tabaka Hills of Western Kenya, and the Kikuyu men of the Kisii community mine and carve the stone. The stone is mined using hand tools. It is then carved into various products of art such as vases, trays, and food bowls. The Kisii tribe are a bantu ethnic group who occupy Kisii highlands in Nyanza, Western Kenya.
